Michelle Glaser

Solo Pianist and Original Instrumental Composer

Michelle’s music touches emotions and takes them on a journey inside their very heart. Her songs penetrate the souls of those who hear it, sometimes bringing forth new emotions, and sometimes opening chakras long-since closed.  Michelle fuses new age, jazz and classical music into an array of audio paradise.  She takes the dark side of minor keys and turns them into sounds that kiss your heart into joyful tears.

HOW IT ALL STARTED…

Michelle was born in Ohio, but likes to consider St. Paul, Minnesota her home.    Encouraged by her late mother, she started playing piano at the tender age of 5.  She took formal lessons until age 18.  Through those years she took home many prestigious awards from the Wisconsin Music Teacher’s Association.   Michelle was classically trained, but also liked the sounds of pop and rock music.  She is influenced by the mysterious sounds of Enigma, the enchanting music of Enya and the dramatic overtures of Yanni.

Not really sure if she was going to pursue a career as a pianist, she started volunteering to play piano in Region’s Hospital Atrium on a weekly basis.  The responses from people in passing were a turning point in the decision to take her piano playing one step further.   She then played an impromptu performance at Murray’s Steakhouse in Minneapolis.   Again, her performance was a crowd pleaser.  In July of 2008, Michelle’s career started taking off when she became the sole musician for the opening night of the Art Show “Motorcycles and Other Magical Mediums.”  In addition, at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community, she has been the featured musician many times, and earned a standing ovation.  Michelle’s ability to transform black and white keys into colorful sounds of passion, has led her to recording her first Album titled, “…and the Piano Fell in Love.”  Her song “Daybreak” received airplay on KFAI 90.3 FM Minneapolis, Minnesota soon after its release.  In June, 2009 she was featured in the editorial page of the magazine “The Edge: Soul of the Cities.”

Influenced by artists such as Prince, Babyface, Michael Jackson, ABBA, the BEE GEES and Level 42 – Michelle has begun a newer journey of playing dance music with a twist of pop and funk, due to her latest purchase of her Roland Fantom X8 keyboard.  Enjoying a good beat to dance to encouraged her to compose her own jam on the dance floor!
